I love watching soccer match and often searching for related latest updates on the Internet and I found this interesting event – Standard Chartered’s Little Champions. So what is so interesting about it? For your information, from now till end of March 2010, SCB MasterCard credit cardholders stand the chance to win the “SCB Little Champions” prize for the Knock-out Match, Semi Finals and the Finals in Madrid. Cool!

Yes, this is a good news where children in Asia have the chance to get once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for to be the escorts to world-class soccer players at the 2009/2010 UEFA Champions League matches. Most of us know that UEFA matches are being watched by people all around the world so this is a rare chance in a lifetime for the children to participate in the event. 24 selected children from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE and Korea will have the chance to be player escorts at AC Milan Vs Marseille match in Milan and Manchester FC Vs Bersiktas JK match in Manchester. This event will be an amazing experience for them.

This campaign is jointly promoted by Standard Chartered and MasterCard where the customers with the highest number of transactions on their SCB MasterCard credit card have the chance to win the Little Champions package which consists of round trip airfare, 3-night hotel stay and match tickets for guardian and child together with the player escort rights. Multiple awesome prizes in one package. Amazing.

But that is not the end of it. There is a lot more of opportunities ahead where more winners will be selected to enjoy the future stages of the UEFA matches such as the Knock-out stage, Semi-Finals and the Finals in Madrid. I believe that this is a rare chance for us to watch the matches live at the event so it’s a golden chance in a lifetime to get yourself in the campaign.

If you feel interested to participate in this awesome campaign, register online now at Standard Chartered’s Singapore Little Champions or Standard Chartered’s Korea Little Champions

During last weekend, I and my friends joined the open futsal tournament at UniKL British Malaysian Institute which is just located next to our campus. Sincerely, it is bigger than I ever thought. This is the first time we play together as a team for tournament, excluding the practice. My last game was in Foundation in PJ and now I got the chance again to play in team. I mean, the real team.

Gosh. This is really awesome.

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-8901169498695008";

4 teams from IIUM (I guess) joined the tournament and we are all KAEDians. I then noticed I missed a lot of awesome things since I started studying in Gombak campus. The 4 teams were named Baitulmaqdis, Kopi Jantan, Kopi Betina, and Kapal Api (my team). Sounds funny, but it is more than that when you’re in the match.

The first impression was different. I was not sure to believe which point – playing easy or hard. Whatever. Let’s play. And the first match began. It was our first time and unfortunately I was been put in the wrong position. A defender suddenly became the striker and I lost my focus. We lost 0-1. It is our first match and we were very disappointed but somehow we got motivated again where we could win the other 2 matches.

And yes, we won another 2 matches!

Been put in the right position and substitutions, we played very well as it is our first experience. Everybody knows each other abilities for example, EP JB has to go inside the game in the second half and being changed before the game ends. It works! I learned something new at that time where knowing each other is very important if we are looking for success and achieving the goal.

As the result for the first day, all 4 teams qualified to the knockout stage and we were really happy about that.

For the knockout, we are the first one to be knocked out followed by other teams. Baitulmaqdis won the 3rd place and for me, they are a great team.

Congratulations, friends. Hope we will play better next time!

Playing like a team =)

Glad. Proud. Happy. I don’t know what to say. But it’s happened and it’s a glorious moment not only for the Malaysian football team, but also for all Malaysian who support football or not.

King Raja’s boys finally end 20-year gold drought

“MALAYSIA finally ended their 20-year gold drought in the SEA Games men’s football competition when they defeated Viet-nam 1-0 in the final at the Main Stadium of the National Sports Complex in Vientiane yesterday.

The national Under-23 boys, who came as non-medal prospects under Category B, pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the Games to win the gold medal – Malaysia’s 40th in the Laos SEA Games.

An own goal by Vietnam’s Mai Xuan Hop in the 85th minute was enough to seal victory for the gritty Malaysian side, who came alive in the second-half.”

You can read more of the story at the original MStar Article.

It’s a glorious and at the same time, historic moment. I believe that a lot of Malaysians jumping in front of the TV last night, celebrating this glorious moment.

I don’t know what to say but I hope that we can be proud of our football team again, after years and moments of being defeated and laughed. And I also believe that through full spirit and support, the team can put themselves in the nice place again.

The thing that we should proud of is – the players have the spirit to fight although there are a huge number of opponent’s supporters compared to theirs. And at last, we won.

Congratulations Malaysia! Malaysia Boleh!

p.s: Some people might thinking that I’m over-acting, but I believe I said this because I love my country – my people, my land.

p.s.s: I guess the one that talked a lot and underestimating others currently had shut their mouth. Now you know the truth.

p.s.s.s: Love your country as I love mine. But make sure that it’ll not make we fight each other =)

To be honest, this is the first time I feel impressed with Malaysian football team. Of course I always support them because I’m Malaysian and in some sense, I feel we have to feel the same. However the performance is not good enough because the supporters for sure want their team to win, and the same thing goes for us. I always feel that the glory days like Mokhtar Dahari and friends’ time will not happen again.

But the recent news make me think that I might be wrong.

Malaysia beat Thailand 2-1 to go to the semi-final and then won over Laos to make their way to the final. Wow. At first I didn’t watched the previous group level matches, the main factor is because the local TV is not broadcasting it. However after Malaysia made their way to the semi final, I tend to look back to the previous matches. Thanks to YouTube because if it’s not because of you, we might just wondering/imagining the matches.

So I watched the semi-final where Malaysia vs Laos at the cafe. And I saw people watching the match cannot be compared to the number of people watching Manchester United vs Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal. But as Malaysia leading and adding goals, more and more people came and gave their support. They played nice however slowed down and then been into nice form again.

And as the result says, Malaysia goes for the final match.

I read a lot of comments from various sources. Some people praise, some people feel amazed, some people said they’re previously wrong and as usual some people said that it’s not enough. Well, there are even people who underestimate the team even we’re go the final. Ok, that’s your opinion and you’re free to say that. For me, I believe that we could be better if we’re put our effort in skills and strategies. If you are willing to support your national team only after they’re qualified for the World Cup, then what’s the point of being a supporter? A supporter supports even the team win or lose.

Football. It’s the game that we can analyze and discuss about it for a day without stop. You might say this and I might say that.

And yes, football is not just about Malaysia or other countries and teams. It’ s about how we believe in winning. Sometimes we lose, and it doesn’t mean that we’ll lose the next match. We win and we lose.

p/s: Waiting for the final match =)
